Mo._Gillum_Pic_1_Missionary Louise Gillum is a native of Augusta, Georgia.  She is married to Rev. Dr. Gilbert Gillum, Jr., Senior Pastor, Living Word Church of God in Christ and they have three children and three grandchildren.

 

She is a 1992 graduate of Augusta Technical College.  She was then employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for thirty plus years.  In 1997, she attended McLennan Community College and earned certification in Day Care Administration.

 

Mission Gillum is active with her local church as First Lady of the Living Word Church of God in Christ and she leads the Women Department on various church and community-based initiatives.  On the state level, she held the position as President of the Hospitality Department for Texas Southwest Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Samuel Iglehart.  At the national level, she served as Third-Vice President of the International Hospitality Department for the Churches of God in Christ, Inc.

 

Missionary Gillum expresses her passion for education, childcare, and healthcare through her work and various accomplishments.  She began the Living Word Children Church Ministry in 1992 and presently she serves as the Executive Director for the Living Word Christian Academy and Daycare.  Under her tutelage, the child development center has received various awards and recognition.  Additionally, Mrs. Gillum serves as President of the Smart Start Childcare Association in McLennan County.

 

She not only has attained these achievements, but she has been blessed to work in ministry partnership with her husband of thirty-three years, Rev. Dr. Gilbert Gillum, Jr.  With all of her social, religious, and civic responsibilities, she still finds time to nurture her spouse, children and grandchildren: Audry, Amy, Edmond, Jayla, Jaden and Jabez.

 

Advice to Youth:  Maximize all your potential, which the Lord has given to you.  Youth must believe that the importance of an education as a critical tool in having a better life, and a better nation.
